Where are my glasses?
By Anna Alvarez Compañia and The Place
Gritty dance theatre using autobiographical narrative, illustration and an original score to give voice to the experience of violence and our relationship to it. Created and choreographed by Anna Alvarez.
The piece is a solo work that weaves together narrative and magical realism to explore the affect of violence on our lives. A story told with tenderness and honesty; this is the company’s second work of Latinx Dance Theatre. Supported by ACE, Siobhan Davies Studios and Vincent Dance Theatre, the work seeks to raise awareness around domestic abuse and violence by supporting people to talk openly about it.
Anna explored initially with Charlotte Vincent and a scratch of the solo was performed at the ONCA gallery as part of Vincent Dance Theatre’s Brighton Festival residency in 2018.
Anna decided to revisit the work and stage it as a live and site specific work. The work is performed with an original score. Performed as a solo show in May 2022 at The Place.
